Following is a list of events and activities scheduled for the next couple of months. A presentation is scheduled at every monthly meeting, held on the last Friday evening of each month.

Public Meeting - Mr. Adrian Schulman from GE Lighting will speak on an energy topic of interest to the members.

Public Meeting - Engineers working with Teachers 

Harry Roman will speak to us this month on the topic of Engineers Working with Teachers with a display and discussion of some of the educational products he recently developed. He will also discuss his solar energy and robotics research as discussed in his biography.

Public Meeting - "The Four Hour House"

The presentation willl be on project management. We will show a video entitled "The Four Hour House" in which a team builds a house from scratch (no pre-fab) in four hours, demonstrating the principles of total quality management and teamwork.  The video will be followed by a discussion on project management led by Tom Conlon.

February, 2008

February 15, 8:00 PM. Computers and Music: A Virtual Collaboration. 

Why are computers used for musical composition? Does their appeal lie in contributions of ease, speed, or unimagined possibilities? All of the above?  On Friday February 15, the Montclair Society of Engineers presents composer Elizabeth Hoffman, founder of the Washington Square Computer Music Studio, who will show how Computer Assisted Composition relies on the computer as a truly 'creative' assistant.  She will give a short history of computer composition, describe techniques currently being developed and used by composers, researchers, and software designers and illustrate these techniques with examples from her compositions

January 18th. 7:00 PM - Family Night.
Come one, come all, bring your spouses and kids. We will have a fantastic Pizza dinner featuring four of Montclair's finest Pizzerias. Our presentation, featuring Mr. Charles Liu, will focus on Astronomy, specifically Black Holes, Extra-Terrestrials and the search for life in the cosmos.

November 16th, 8:00 PM General Meeting -  Mr. Thomas Valcich, speaking about the future of Atomic power.

November 6th, 8:00 PM - Executive Committee Meeting at Pete Donagan's home in Montclair.

October 19th, 8:00 PM. Public Meeting - all are invited. Featured speaker is Anthony Del Vescovo speaking about the Manhattan Water Tunnel Project.
 
October 2nd, 8:00 PM - Executive Committee Meeting - Bob Chamberlin's home.

September, 2007

September 21st, 8:00 PM, General Meeting. Featured Speaker is Mr. Andrew J. Willner, Baykeeper and Director of NY/NJ Baykeeper. Come early for some Seasonal apple pie and hot cider, served with coffee at 7:30.

Field Trip - NYC Transit
 
We will visit the NYC Subway Control Centers - the Substation at 8th Ave and 53rd Street and the 1904 IRT Power Substation #13.
We will meet at Union Congregational Church at 8AM on the 7th, and will car-pool into New York from there. Please confirm with Pete Donegan or Tom Conlon (see contacts page).

Field Trip: Passaic Water Treatment Plant in Newark
 
Save The Date - details will follow for this in-depth look at North Jersey's largest water treatment plant. Please contact Pete Donegan or Tom Conlon for details, and to make a reservation (member's only).
